Combine Like Terms
This is exactly like it sounds. If you have coefficients that have the same letter in the expression you will simplify the expression by combining them. If you have numbers without letters attached, calculate those together. Don’t forget though to follow your order of operations.
When adding and subtracting like coefficients, only add and/or subtract the constant. If you are multiplying or dividing a coefficient, then add or subtract the variable accordingly. For example, x + x = 2x, but x(x) = x².
